Andrew Garfield Interview – Hacksaw Ridge – “he is even more of a superhero than a Spider-Man”



Andrew Garfield should be glad he’s not strutting around in a silly spandex suit as Spider-Man anymore. The talented British actor is far better suited to serious work as he demonstrated in The Social Network and now in HACKSAW RIDGE, Mel Gibson’s searing WWII drama.


Q: Andrew, Hacksaw Ridge is a very grim yet uplifting tale of courage. How do you see this story?

GARFIELD: I think it’s a beautiful story. Desmond Doss can be considered a superhero, and I would say that he is even more of a superhero than a Spider-Man! Doss accomplished an incredible feat, dragging seventy-five wounded soldiers back to safety while under terrific enemy fire…
