Diane Kruger: “I was 15 years old when I moved out of Germany to work in Paris and I didn’t start acting until I was in my twenties and that was in French films…”

CANNES – It’s taken her 15 years, but Diane Kruger has finally made a German film. She’s played
German characters before – in Unknown opposite Liam Neeson and in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious
Basterds – but she’s never had to play in a German language film where she gets to work in her native
language. It turned out to be a case of better late than never, however, when Kruger collected the best
actress prize at the recent Cannes Film Festival for her stunning performance in German director Fatih
Akin’s IN THE FADE (Aus dem Nichts). So what took Diane so long?
