Gillian Anderson Interview – The Fall – “I wasn’t as appreciative of how lucky I was to be part of the show as I should have been while I was doing the The X-Files”
Gillian Anderson is in the midst of a powerful career renaissance. Perhaps that explains her jocular, charismatic manner today, leaving one with the impression that these are the best of times for her. Strikingly beautiful, her long blonde hair adding glamour to her sculpted features, she’s never looked happier or more at ease discussing her life than now.
This Autumn, audiences will have the chance to see Anderson step back into the role of self-assured DSI Stella Gibson when Season 3 of THE FALL returns to British airwaves. In Season 3, Stella Gibson continues her cat-and-mouse game with serial killer Paul Spector (Jamie Dornan) who was left in a bad state at the close of the previous season.
Q: What is your perspective on The X-Files now? Is it something that you regard as a major part of your acting legacy?
ANDERSON: Oh, I’m very grateful for everything that the series has brought me although I wasn’t as appreciative of how lucky I was to be part of the show as I should have been while I was doing the (original) series. It was really my first serious role and to be able to create that kind of iconic character is something very rare and remarkable…
It could have been something else. It could have been something that I hated or had bad reviews. So I was very lucky.
