Mads Mikkelsen Interview – Doctor Strange – “my heart has always been on the side of European dramas”

Mads Mikkelsen seemingly has it all.  A supremely gifted actor and one of the handsomest men in the world, he lives a quiet life in his native Copenhagen with his wife and two sons.  In person, he’s jovial and outgoing, smiling constantly, and except for his striking leading man looks, one would never suspect that he’s one of Europe’s biggest stars.

Now he’s playing in back-to-back blockbusters: DOCTOR STRANGE, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role, and STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE.  Careful not to reveal too many details about either film, Mikkelsen is however excited about his trip into the two separate sci-fi universes.

Q:  Mads, were you a fan of either the Doctor Strange comics or the Star Wars movies when you were younger?

MIKKELSEN:  Just like I never watched the James Bond films before they hired me to do Casino Royale, I never watched any of the Star Wars films either although of course now I’m a big fan of them. I feel like a whole new universe has opened up to me.  It’s fantastic.
