Oliver Bell Interview – “I don’t know if I want to become a racing driver… I like what I’m doing now”
A CHILD STAR IN THE FAST LANE – ‘WESTWORLD’ ‘SALEM’
When you’re the grandson of a five-time Le Mans winner, there’s plenty of temptation to carry on in the family tradition. Still only 12, Oliver Bell admits that his grandfather Derek has given him plenty of inspiration to compete at the highest level as has his father Justin, a former racer turned TV host.
Q: Do you have any interest yourself in perhaps carrying on in your grandfather’s and father’s footsteps and getting involved in racing yourself? Have you done any karting which is how many of the top drivers got started in the sport?
BELL: I like karting a lot. It’s a great experience to be able to go around and actually race. It’s not just wanting to do it for the sake of doing it. I don’t know if I want to become a racing driver, though. I like what I’m doing now.
