Sam Claflin Interview – Me Before You – “I’ve never pushed myself so much”
We all love a good weepie film. Everybody has their favourite – Beaches, Terms of Endearment – pass the Kleenex please….
And new movie, Me Before You, starring Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin, about the budding romance between a bitter paraplegic and his care assistant, is easily set to join that list
So what is Mr Claflin’s go-to weepie?
How did you do it?
CLAFLIN: I was on a 500 calorie a day diet, which is very little. And was working out three times a day which I had no energy to do. I was so drained and not in a good place. Not to say this gave me any idea of what it was like to be a paraplegic, that was just my journey.
It was a tough job, yea, I’m not afraid to say it was the toughest mentally, physically. I’ve never pushed myself so much. I had gone home tired and drained every day. Also, because it wasn’t easy wrapping my head around what somebody like Will is going through. I’d never even met anyone remotely similar.
